Rady Children’s Ice Rink

The beautifully-decorated outdoor rink is open daily from 10 a.m to 10 p.m. and skate rentals and helmets are included in the admission price. Proceeds benefit the Thriving After Cancer program in the Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Rady Children’s.

Tips to Plan Ahead For Your Ice Skating Trip
Not sure when to go, what to bring or how to get started? Here are some great tips to ensure your family has a smooth, fun day at the rink:
- Remember your skates, if you have them. You’ll save a few dollars on a skate rental if you bring your own.
- Pack some healthy snacks and bring lots of water. Many ice rinks offer limited (and not always healthy) food options. And you might be surprised at how thirsty you feel after even just a half hour of skating – it’s a great calorie-burner!
- A weekday afternoon is the optimal time to go skating, as it will be the least crowded. If you can’t make that work, try for a weeknight (Monday – Wednesday are the best options for less crowds).
- Bring sweaters, jackets, gloves and/or scarves. Even indoor ice rinks can get quite chilly, so bundle up to make sure everyone in your family stays warm and comfortable.
- If you’ve never been skating before, sign up for a beginner’s lesson to get familiar with the ice! Many of the ice rinks listed above offer inexpensive introductory lessons for all ages. In fact, UTC Ice offers a free introductory lesson (first come, first serve) to San Diego residents on Saturdays at 11:15 am.

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Viejas Casino & Resort has officially opened their holiday ice rink for the winter season. Hundreds of guests arrived at Viejas Outlets for the opening night, October 31, to enjoy some holiday fun by spinning and gliding on Southern California’s largest outdoor ice skating rink.
This marks the eighth consecutive year that Viejas Outlets has provided this holiday tradition for the San Diego area. Each year over 30,000 guests come to Viejas to enjoy this wintertime spree, which is accompanied by a dazzling light and music show. The ice skating rink will be open every evening and select daytime hours, weather permitting, through January 10, 2016. As always, the ice skating rink and garden paths of Viejas Outlets have come alive with cheerful holiday decorations.
Viejas Tribal Chairman Robert Welch commented on the occasion, “The ice skating rink at Viejas Outlets has become an important feature in our guests’ holiday experience. We are proud to continue this tradition in offering a marked variety of entertainment for the San Diego area.”
As the largest of its kind in Southern California, the Viejas Outlets ice skating rink measures at 9,800 square feet. Skate rental is available along with tasty snacks and hot and cold beverages for winter revellers. In addition to ice skating, Viejas visitors will enjoy spectacular performances every thirty minutes at the Viejas Outlets ShowCourt, featuring colored lights, lasers, fireworks, and a gentle snowfall all set to beloved holiday tunes. This daily holiday show began on November 1.
