you'll be lucky... I've used a 24' rear on my ride since 2007 (its a throwback freeride build) and finding 24' mtb tyres in 2016 is not easy in my experience- it can be done though. Maxxis who I use, produced a 24' High Roller and I've had the most luck on eBay finding the odd place having a clear out or private sale. That tyre is certainly not 'tubeless ready' but I'm led to believe you could do a ghetto set up on it although I've never tried personally. Also,try searching for MTB Trials tyres and MTB unicycle fans (yes, seriously) as they tend to still favour the 24' wheel. Be prepared to look at EU retailers too, I've been lucky with finding new un-used tyres (I have 2 spares only) in the UK but they are becoming rarer than rocking horse sh*t!
edit: Halo wheels still produce 24' tyres but they are on the heavy side. good luck! |

Ha! Nice to hear and thanks for reporting back. Weirdly since this thread was created, Maxxis have re-introduced the 24' off road tire with the Minion DHF which is a pretty impressive choice fro the groms and old schoolers like myself.. |

Maxxis lists these as wire bead, so I presume NOT Tubeless Ready...

Looking into the same issue myself. Son's just gone 6 and he's running Red trails well. Bagged two in Wales last week.
Going for the Stans rims, nothing else really about that looks to save weight. Probably some Hope hubs as the kids bikes do get neglected with maintenance and this should pay off in the long run. May use some really light weight spokes as he is only small and its not about building strong wheels (yet...). They are 32h too on a 24' rim.
I've found the Maxxis to be looking good, not TL but I reckon with the posh rims it would be a go.

On the spare wheels I have a Schwalbe Big Betty 24x2.4 front and Rocket Ron rear 24x2.2 set up with tubes as they did not work on the stock Diamindback rims. |
